What buyers are actually asking
The PQQs landing on suppliers in 2026 look very different to 2020. ISO 14001 certification still helps, but buyers now want a Carbon Reduction Plan aligned to PPN 06/21, evidence of social value delivery, a modern slavery statement (where thresholds apply) and increasingly a sustainability roadmap linked to the buyer's own net-zero commitments.
The evidence you will be asked for
- Scope 1, 2 and material Scope 3 emissions with a baseline year.
- A credible reduction pathway with interim milestones.
- Social value commitments mapped to a recognised framework (TOMs, etc.).
- A modern slavery statement and supply chain due diligence approach.
- ISO 14001 or an equivalent environmental management system.
Where ISO 14001 helps
ISO 14001 gives you the governance backbone — context, compliance obligations, objectives, monitoring. It does not by itself satisfy CRP or social value questions, but it makes the supporting evidence easier to produce and defend.
